Carrie's story

Passionate About Integrative Health

I have been in the holistic health space since 1999, where I started as a personal trainer, providing guidance on exercise and nutrition.  In 2005, I began practicing law, and as my legal counseling morphed into life counseling, I realized that I loved hearing people’s stories and helping them turn challenges into achievements.  By day, I was an attorney; by early morning and evening, I led group fitness classes, completed 500+ hours of yoga teacher training, taught yoga, and continued to provide health, fitness, and lifestyle coaching, mostly to women.

One day, I woke up and discovered a 14 cm mass in my left breast.  After too many biopsies and needle aspirations, the doctors called the mass “idiopathic” (no known cause) and deemed it autoimmunity.  One set of doctors offered me a cocktail of steroids; other doctors wanted me to do chemo “just for one year” – both aiming to kill my immune system so it would stop attacking my body.  I said, no thank you, and began working with an amazing Naturopathic Doctor and a Chinese Medicine Doctor.  Through functional lab testing, we discovered I had been living in black mold, my body was holding onto heavy metals and other environmental toxins, and I had hidden infections related to a root canal and extracted wisdom teeth.  With food, fasting, herbs, and other natural medicine, I shrunk the tumor, regained my health, and my thinning hair even grew back. I became profoundly inspired by the power of holistic, natural healing.

Then, as I entered the throes of perimenopause, I used herbs and lifestyle changes to regulate my hormones and cycle, reduce night sweats, and improve my sleep, mood, and digestion; and did I mention the perimenopausal rage?

I knew I had to teach these strategies to whomever wants learn. I also wanted more tools to support my clients in their health rebuilding programs.  I studied Herbal Medicine for Women with the phenomenal Dr. Aviva Romm and became a Certified Herbal Educator.  I enrolled in the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) Program and became a Certified FDN Practitioner, enabling me to use functional lab testing to dig deeper to find hidden stressors and healing opportunities for each client.

I know firsthand that regaining and maintaining health takes hard work. I work on my health and well being everyday. And it’s worth it! Without our health, everything is harder. But, when we feel good, anything is possible. I would be honored to take the health rebuilding journey with you — to help you re-discover your best self.
